Title: PCV Valve - Discrepancies
Post by: LiamGTi on June 26, 2015, 09:48:39 am
Hi All,

I have read 10's of threads about PCV Valves, and I still do not understand the concept due to so many discrepancies.

I have a late 2006 Golf GTi - BWA Engine Code. I have no idea the Part number of the PCV fitted to my car at present.

I read this thread ( http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,44709.0.html ) which stated I needed these 3 items.

06F 129 101 G for the New breather valve PCV
06F 103 215 A for the pipe with checkvalve
06F 103 483 E for the Gasket

I ordered them from TPS - PCV Valve is now all superseeded to a Rev R. Pipe with Check valve is superseeded to a Rev B. Gasket remains the same.

All good right? However this is where the threads about PCV Valves and Pipes contradict. Some say you need the rear breather if you have the latest PCV in order to work, other say the latest PCV has the Rear Check Valve so no need to fit the pipe.

A simple question is I have all 3 parts, Obviously the PCV and Gasket need fitting - Do I, or do I not, fit the rear breather pipe with check valve (06F 103 215 B) If I fit Rev R PCV?

Threads with the info are here

I have recently fitter PCV version R. My car does not have a valve in the rear breather tube (its still the original).

So do you think the best/safest solution is.

Fit Rev R - Check the Breather pipe if it has check valve then replace pipe, if it doesnt have check valve then leave it be.

What year is yours Dazza? Also was that smooth grill okay?

Im confused also to be honest mate
Hence why ive not replaced mine

Mine is 57 plate currently has rev R pcv fitted so am i to assume i woukd just need a new rev R pcv and gasket and job done?

Nothing wrong with car currently but for £41 a wouldn't mind replacing it anyway just as a matter of course due to the pcv being a commin known issue on the tfsi  :happy2:engines

Mines an 05 AXX. Getting the pipe of the rocker cover is a pita. Maybe the part number of the PCV will help u work out if u have a rear breather?
Or i may be wrong version R needs the rear breather??

The smoothed grill is great!  :happy2:

I'm new to VW's as only bought mine 3 months ago but can I ask what problems do these PCV valves give & why are you changing them?
