Since doing the main stat etc, i was hoping for a better MPG.
Stock AXX 22.59MPG??
-
That's massively low. I get 30-31mpg around town and 44-45mpg cruising on the motorway at 70. Around 80mph that drops to 40mpg
-
i get mid-late 20's :sad1:
-
I can literally see the gauge going down. The car is running better than ever though. Nino how heavy is your right foot?
-
As said mate that's awful mpg
Mine is also stock bwa engine on 70k miles
Never really see less than 30 round town and comfortably 40 on motorway runs!
If i really open it up occasionally on my way home from work i may see low 20's briefly :happy2:
-
This is the accumulative figure since I last reset it. The kids are in the car most of the time which should improve my MPG.
-
Think mine is on 33.6 at moment over last 1000 miles
-
Mine was always low 30s but since removing my pre cat and always using 99ron fuel rather than 97ron mixed driving im getting high 30s and 40 - 42 on motorway. Car is stock apart from carbonio intake
-
Mines stock bar pre-cat removal and panel filter. I'm generally 20's round town and 30's on motorway. All time best is 38.6 mpg. My right foot is reasonably heavy.

I've been through 2 tanks since buying my 2005 GTI.
35mpg on tank 1, 36mpg on tank 2. Rural B roads, motorway and a bit of town.
I use it for commuting so a bit of hooning but 70% normal driving.
-
Could there be anything that could cause the low MPG apart from my heavy right foot?
I get a noise from the fuel tank sometimes sounds like a plopping noise i open the fuel cap which releases the pressure and the noise stops.
This is not my vid i will take one next time i have the noise. Sounds like this.

My stage 1+ AXX average is 23.3mpg over the last 1400 miles. But I spend most of my time spanking it so if you're getting that average driving like a sensible person I'd say something is up. Do you ever get a really dusty or hot corner of the car like a caliper is stuck?

No brake dust or heat. Shouldn't the warmer weather also improve my MPG?
-
High 20s for me. Never got over 30mpg. That's slow lane on motorway doing 70mph :surprised:
Standard edition 30
-
Yup, the last few weeks I've gained at least 2-3mpg on motorway journeys
-
@dazza (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=10457) i dont have a heavy foot no. My car is a 55 plate but 2006 model, 70k miles, fsh, had two cam belts/ waterpumps tenioners from vw. Not mapped ive installed a pannel filter but that's it. Its dsg and i tend to leave it in D ive done the pcv check and it seems fine. I even haf the c follower done.
My driving is a mixture of 7 mile journey to work amd back. I see around 26mpg there. I have had 30 on occasion. On weekends i drive 15 miles on the motorway to see family but juat about see 38mpg at a push and that keeping around 65mph.
Something isn't right if u guys are getting over 40mpg.
-
If you get it remapped it will get better @Nino (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=11501)
Because you get more torque lower down the engine doesn't have to work as hard.
-
you mean an eco map?
-
40+ is regularly seen in mine
As said standard car making 211bhp and 240ftlb on rollers recently so definately not mapped etc
Usually see 340-360 miles from a 50 litre fill up with mixed driving or as much as 440 on long motorway run using cruise at 70-80mph :happy2:
-

Any good linear map will see an mpg increase although you can get maps aimed more at economy.

I have to drive above 80 to see less than 40mpg on the motorway. I find it quite an economic car to be fair. But I'm comparing it to my old Focus ST that was frankly awful on fuel

Bwa mate :happy2:

Is that the standard torque difference between the axx and bwa then? Think my axx is just over 200ftlb standard is that about right?

Reset the mpg trip and went for a drive to the stealers to pick up some trim clips. Didn't go WOT kept it in D, drove very sensibly :innocent:

12.7km/l >> 35.87mpg
Glad to know the poor mpg is down the driver and not the car. I can switch back to my normal driving style now. :driver: If i wanted good MPG i would have bought a hybrid.

Know what your saying about not buying it for mpg mate as thats not the reason i bought mine as have the wifes Gtd for that but all the same I still don't hoon it to work everyday as what's the point?
I Like to chill out on way to work at 6:30am each morning not risk life and licence
Nice knowing you have a bit of poke there though for when the mood takes you, not cery often for me these days though with having a 1 year old daughter in the car with me quite often :rolleye:
-
TBH i'm a bit surprised about the MPG as i work from home. 90% of the time the wife and kids are in the car. So its very rare that i can put my foot down.
I think the golf is a great family car. Having driven the in laws honda jazz hybrid the golf feels so solid/safe. Reassuring if the wife ever takes the kids out in it.
-
I recently done a 2000mile round trip to South West France, Cruise set to 75mph most of the time(DSG), fully loaded with Wife and 2 kids (oldish kids), plus a boot full.
36.9mpg average, 450+ to the tank/s
