Title: New Boot handle fitted plus inserts
Post by: thehayster on June 28, 2015, 05:58:40 pm
Having found a bit of enthusiasm I embarked on replacing my existing boot release handle with one sourced a few weeks ago from ebay. Also stuck on some inserts to the new unit, I wasnt too sure how the inserts would look but i am initially quite pleased.

Next job = wheel arches !

I really like this, I've done the same to mine but I upgraded to the MK6 rear and my CF is black. I really love your crimson as it matches the red of the rear end. I plan on smoking my tail lights and tinting the rear otherwise this would be a nice little mod to put on mine

Im tempted to do a plaid pattern for my rear badge :happy2:  Yours looks neat and tidy. Wheel arches got rust?

Perhaps try and spray the old boot handle another colour so you have a nice modified spare

Yes, rust to front wheel arches i am afraid. The near side is the worst, just one bubble on the offside at the moment. I intend to have a go at it this week and when it is at the primer stage have a man in a van come round and do the top coat. I was going for a new wing but a local body shop quoted me £408 which i thought was a bit steep.

See link for the insert. A better way to do it may be to purchase a vinyl sheet and cut your own pieces slightly oversize.

how old is your car? had my arch done under the 10 year vw corrosion warranty for free a couple of months back... might be worth an ask
