I've had my 55 reg GTi since August 2011, and whilst I still love it (and it is totally standard), I am doing around 15,000 miles every year and to be honest I just cannot afford £60/week just to get to work and back. I need to think about getting a diesel something, not decided what yet, but i'm wondering if I could get a reasonable price for it instead of trading it in. Any ideas on a possible value would be really helpful:
Golf Gti 2.0 petrol 3-door 55 reg in silver - current mileage 121,600 miles
Bad stuff:
Small dent just in front of rear near side wheel arch (it was there when I bought it - apparently it's in a difficult place to have 'sucked' out so it's still there
Drivers seat offside side 'pad' worn through (proper hole)
Good stuff - totally original with full service history
Since I've owned it I have had:
Two new wings (free from VW) last June, while it was in the body shop I had
High level rear brake light replaced and Headlights polished
All new air con components (£1k -gulp)
Passenger door airbag was replaced in 2013 along with associated loom under passenger seat

Not sure what to suggest on the price bud but if your just after selling it to buy a diesel car then try a website called swapz.co.uk
There's plenty of d*ck heads on there lol but if you hold out and filter threw all the rubbish then there's some good cars to be had
I've been on there since 2007 and had well over 50 cars from there. Worth a try
