I dug my spare key out last week when I was going to get the Highline clocks fitted and none of the buttons were working on it. I swapped the battery over with 1 that was OK as I assumed it had died after sitting for so long, but to no avail.
I haven't used it since I bought the car, so dear knows how long its been faulty for. I tried the key and it still works for starting the car at least.
Any idea what could be wrong with the remote side of it?

I'd try a brand new battery in it - not a used one from your other key, it may need a full boost.

Mine lost its codi g to car after being key being sat for couple years
Had to get it recoded by Vw £39 :happy2:
Wouldnt even start car either

Did it ever work ? Perhaps the person you bought it off conned you that they had 2 keys ?

When you replace the battery it needs to be re-coded, easy to do search on youtube :)

As above. As long as you have one working key you can recode the other one. There is a link somewhere, will try and dig it up.
