Title: golf gt 170 temp gauge issue

Hello guys, was driving on the motorway yesterday when I could feel my car stutter, I then realised everytime it juddered the temp gauge went to cold, then would go to normal etc, when on idle it will be at the bottom of the dial and idle at 1200, and when I drive it'll shoot up and then down again and continue to do this. I've changed coolant temp sensor no difference? Any ideas would be very helpful thanks

If you have access to VCDS get it scanned and see what it shows.

Then I would be moving towards - have you had the instrument cluster out for any reason as a bad connection in that area would give similar crazy effects!
