Title: Sound about right?
Post by: white91 on July 01, 2015, 03:42:29 pm
Off to see my friends Mk5 tonight, black, 3 door, 17s, cloth, decent tyres, 133k, manual

He is a mechanic by trade and assures me all the work has been done with genuine bits, he has done cam belt, water pump, all filters, cam follower, diverter valve and the engine balancer shaft gear had failed last year now sorted.

Few dings, air con not working (compressor?) and bit of bubbling on the wings, and its had 12 month MOT today.

Aside from that looks good, his wife has owned it for 3-4 years, he wants £3000

What do people think?

Wings can be fixed for free by VW
Air con fix is a £600 job I think. Price sounds good imo, especially if it has xenons, uprated stereo etc.

get those wings seen by VW - you might be able to get them replaced under their 12 year anti corrosion policy

Good shout on the rust

Is 133k a lot for these engines?

Hopefully buying from sombody I trust will reduce the chance of me buying a dog!

Check out my thread - don't buy on mileage buy on condition.
And yes mine is on over 171k and still going strong - just MOT'd last month with NO advisories!
