Hi all,
Seems like i'm getting closer to the day when my car will no longer be standard - feels just like the day I picked the car from the showroom :jumpmove:
Just hope there are no problems on the way down the slope :scared:. Ive finally decided to go for a blueflame hi-flow exhaust, which was ordered a few days ago and should be with me in a couple of weeks. I have the WALK sitting here waiting to do it's thing and i'm waiting for VWR to get back to me for a date for fitting the following:
VWR springs
VWR ARBs
VWR engine mount (lower subframe) Fast Road
WALK fitment
Will think about brakes, then finally remap + engine mods (probably after the DSG oil/filter change) and stop there (for now :rolleye:). I'm hoping it's going to be a well balanced car - is there anything else to consider while VWR are carrying out the work, to improve longevity/performance?
-
I think you may need a map i f you stick a full performance TBE on as you will get engine warning lamps come up.

I won't be having the exhaust fitted straight away - chassis mods from VWR first. Then remap and exhaust. :happy2:
-
All the mods sound tres cool. :happy2:
And i got the warning light up on mine after fitting the blue flame, and you need to go stage 2 to clear it, but its only a light on the dash there is no harm being done to the car. :happy2:

but if you have that light on the dash and leave it on. then what happens if your car did develop another fault. you wouldnt know as the engine warning lamp is already on.
Didnt realise you could just clear or accept the warning though. thats handy to know.

You can clear it but it comes back after a few miles. Stage 2 switches off the sensor. :happy2:

I ran a full TBE exhaust for a good 3 weeks with no remap or warning light.

Thanks for the replies guys
Well, seems like 2 weeks has come and gone very quickly - I had a small(ish) parcel arrive in the early hours of yesterday morning :jumping:
Really didn't expect it to come within a week!

Sorry about the poor quality pics - I know the original plan was to wait til the remap is done, but i'm itching to get this beast fitted to the car!! Already checked with my local VW specialist (Midland VW) and they're saying they can fit it today  Not sure what to do know lol. The tailpipes (bazukas) seem a lot bigger than i thought they'd be - seems like this thing will make my car fly, literally!
Can someone tell me if there is any part missing, or if there's anything I should know before having this fitted? :driver:
-
Anyone?
Also, how big are these tailpipes supposed to be? I've just measured and they're 3.5"!!! The rest of the exhaust is 3".
-
thats right! same as mine :happy2:

I have had the exhaust fitted for a week now and boy o boy!!!!
Took 2 hours to fit and the guy said it was one of the best quality and easiest exhaust to fit. To be honest, I was a bit reserved at first because the tailpipes protrude a bit more than stock, so i wasn't sure of the looks. Also, listening to the exhaust when test driven I initially thought i've made a mistake as it was louder than i thought. But, a few days on the sound has really grown on me and now i'm totally addicted!!!
On idle it only sounds very slightly louder than stock when sitting in the car, and once the car is warm. When cruising (motorway etc) there is no drone - it's only noticeable while accelerating to 30/70 but it's definately not the kind of noise that would be tiresome or headache producing. But, when you put your foot down...... the sound is amazing!!! Especially the gear changes
The acid test was driving with my parents - both of whom (to my surprise) welcomed the sound. One thing I would say is that it can be quite loud in the back, especially with 2 in the back. But anyone so far who has sat in the back hasn't complained
Overall, very happy with the results - just wish I could change the tailpipes to look more "stock like," so will have a word with blueflame. Next step.....appointment with VWR :pomppomp:
Thanks to everyone for their advice :happy2:

i have the rolled ends on mine but mine was the first ever made so they tried the ones i have first to see what they looked like

i think its sounds fooking awesome when booting it  kind of like an evo sound
-
^^I would prefer mine to look like that - looks more like stock and finishes off the back nicely. Are the tailpipes changeable? Can they custom make the pipes for me?
-
all the tips a are welded on so they would need cutting off and new ones put on but if anything your tips are like the milltek slash cut ed30 version ones i had before i had blueflame make an exhaust for us gti guys  its a stunning bit of kit mate i love mine :jumpmove:
-
Yeah, they are the slash cut ones. Don't get me wrong i think it looks cool, but i'd prefer the stock look (as in the pics) as it looks more subtle. I think the exhaust would be "complete."
