Title: Is this my coilpacks?
Post by: RedGolfDom on July 08, 2015, 10:44:44 pm
Driving home from work today and decided to boot it a bit after it was warmed up and my eml flashed and car juddered in second and lost power. So tested it out a bit and it's doing it most times under heavy load. I don't have a juddering idle just under load. Any ideas?

A misfire under load usually is coilpacks, or knackered plugs.   Misfires from injectors tends to be most noticeable at idle.

Thanks man! Read something about a vw recall of coilpacks os that still a thing? If not I'll just buy some new ones and a set of plugs

I had this - had misfire on cylinder 2. Plugs were changed as part of a service by VW in February - must be packs for me I assume..

My injector was knackered. Replaced by Midland VW.

Yeah injectors would be next but hopefully the coil packs and set of plugs will fix it

Can you not swap the plugs from one cylinder to another and see if the problem follows?
And same with the coil packs

I had my coil packs replaced on recall last week. I went in to see about the rust on the wings and they did both for free. Mine is a 56 plate gti. Hope this helps.

My juddering was intermittent but seems to be happening more often now. Just happened three times today so think I better get it fixed before I make it worse!

Mine happened every time under load mate. Whether it was the coil packs or spark plugs I'm unsure but get it plugged into vcds and see the exact problem and hopefully it will be as easy fix as mine!

Did you get your parts from VW? What were the costs?

I know mine is a misfire on cylinder 2. But it's been happening since VW serviced it in February I'm tempted to take it back to them and say have a look
