Title: RCD510 Bluetooth Activation
Post by: fletch- on July 09, 2015, 06:45:44 pm
Hi guys, recently brought my golf gt tdi and was disappointed with a lack of aux! So I brought a RCD510 DAB. All is working fine and I love how much better the sound is!! However, it has a Bluetooth button, how do I and what do I need to buy for this to work? Many thanks

You'll need a Bluetooth interface module, something like this

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OEM-Bluetooth-Interface-Module-9W2-FOR-VW-Volkswagen-RCD510-1K8-035-730-D-/310782526885?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item485c1505a5

That might not be the exact one you need cause I'm no expert but it says it is compatible with the rcd510

I think that module is old now, hence the lower price. Look for a 7P6 module. I think there are some for sale in the For Sale section of this forum.

Lovely thanks. Do these plug in to the harness then? And do they need coding to work?

They have a loom that connect to the rear Quadlock connector, yes.
They need coding but it's easy. Mine worked fine before I coded it but had errors with VCDS that were solved after coding. :happy2:

Cool that's great. I'm new here, do I have to have a certain amount of posts before I can PM? I want to get in touch with Eddie-nl about a dab aerial and this Bluetooth module? Thanks!

Yes, you need to have 10 posts, I think. Read the rules to get to know the forum.

get a 7p6. it will need coding and you may need a canbus upgrade as well (as I found out) as the 7p6 may not be compatible with your old canbus.

A RCD-510 already required a newer CANBUS.

Even a 1K0 907 530 L is compatible with a 7P6 module.

i have a late version K which has no battery drain so im using that but it does not allow coding of the 7p6.

K versions are only good enough for the battery drainage of RCD/RNS-510, not good enough for RNS-315 and newer BT modules. Get a newer CAN, L, Q, etc...

Yeah, you're fine. Your CAN should be a Q version like my GT Sport. :happy2:

Like I said, mine worked fine before getting it coded. The coding just made the VCDS error go away.

Did you get the loom with the bluetooth module? The mic might need the wiring checked...

Yes pal I got the loom as well. Checked the wiring all ok. Bought another mic before I realised to plug it in vagcom. Tried the new one and still not working

Check this picture to see if it helps you:

Not sure how your loom is making the connections.
