Title: Auto Headlight stayed on after car parked and drained battery
Post by: Andy_D on July 11, 2015, 07:26:43 am
As topic says was driving and the auto head lights came on (it was daytime by the way).

When I parked in the driveway the lights must have stayed on. Next day battery at 9v all sorts of funny messages and quirks. Rear tailgate was only working intermittently although car locking unlocking was working. Then funny chimes from the mfd, then airbag fault shown.

All those seem to have gone away when the car was started. When the car started the headlights were still on even though it was brilliant sunshine / clear blue sky and when turned off car they stayed on. Could only turn off with the switch to manual off.

After driving for a while it seems the auto lights are now working and switching off again. Is this likely to be a cecm going faulty or something else or just a random event that might not catch me out again.

I don't have a code reader.

This is a mk5 gt tsi by the way.

Thanks for any advice / experience of this.

Andy - not sure what the problem is but I would recommend finding you nearest friendly VCDS user and getting them to do a scan for you.

Yes, thanks. A code read is probably the best way forward to see if it sheds any light. Think I'm a bit of way from all vcds users here though, Guildford!

If you find yourself in the Basingstoke area - give me a shout.
