Title: Check oil level warning light still on after topping up oil
Post by: PhilNUK on July 12, 2015, 12:02:18 pm
I posted in the tech workshop forum but due to me needing to drive the car soon I thought I would post on here as desperate for some advice.
My Edition 30 popped up with the check oil level light yesterday so I went and got some castrol edge 5w30 and put about a litre of it in as the level was on the minimum.
Started the car up and the light is still coming up and it says check oil level.  Its the yellow icon,  not the red.

Would it say check the oil level if there was too much in? I can't understand why it's still lit up..  Any ideas? I have a 120 mile motorway journey this afternoon and wary about driving with it if it's going to be risky.

Most likely to be a faulty bonnet catch.

Most likely to be a faulty bonnet catch.

Or the oil level sensor.

Mine took about 100 miles to go off when it happened to me

Managed to sort it.  Lifted the bonnet and gave the mechanism and contacts a blast with wd40... Got in and gave them a bit of a clean and left it a bit and then shut the bonnet and the warning has gone off...

Thanks for the help guys.  I can rest a bit easier on the motorway!
