Title: Golf mk5 Fan works on 2,3,4 but not on 1

Hi guys strange problem, the fan in my car doesnt work on setting 1 but works on 2,3,4. I thought it was the resistor but usually that problem is the other way around where the fan only works on number 4. Anyone got any ideas?

I'm also having problems with my fan. If you turn the fan dial up to override the auto functon the lights above the dial come on and you hear the fan roar, but no air comes out any of the vents. When the temp is set to LO of HI it works perfectly and also on auto.

Do you both have climatronic (digital climate control) or climatic (normal heating / aircon)?

If climatronic, and you can hear fan working but no air coming out, could possibly be one of the flaps in the system not opening, stopping the air coming through.
The flaps are controlled by electronic motors.
I think vcds should show a fault.

I have climatronic controls. Thanks for that. I'll look into it :) Hate to sound stupid tho. What is VCDS?

Mines the normal climatic mate.
