Ok this is going to be tough to explain but i will try my best!
Vw golf MK5 gti DSG 2007
Basically....when i slow down to a stop, it jolt,judders/jumpy/shakes when its in 2nd then 1st. When i go to pull off it does the same, when i reverse it does the same sort of a jumpy feeling not smooth as it should. If i flick it into manual tiptronic mode then its ok but back into auto and as soon as i pull up to traffic lights/roundabouts then the issue occurs. Seems like as soon as i left my foot of the pedal the gearbox goes into 2nd then i pull off and i feel the issue. Cant say that is whats causing it but i dount it should go into 2nd the quick when pulling off. Even still when i slow down like in traffic and doing 10ish mph and driving behind a car in slow traffic it sort of jumps so much and not smooth at all. Makes it uncomfortable to drive!!!
This problem i have had for 4 months now and seems to be getting abit worse. Even when you reverse its the same when it should be smooth. Like i mentioned before,if slowing down or pulling off in manual theres no issue. Car shouldn't be jolting when slowing down or pulling off

I haven't taken it to VW yet as i wanted to see what opinions people have on here who most of the time know better than VW
I have looked it up as much as possible but theres mixed things i read...i.e Mechatronic Unit, flywheel etc etc
I have stated all the info i have and about the issue on here so please help out if you can

Try a recalibration via VCDS, may help

Are the gear changes smooth in manual? If so, it could be software related.
Also 1st gear is quickly changed to 2nd on these, I believe it's meant to be like that.

Yeah mine changes very early into 2nd gear too.

When mine is in D the gear changes are really quick as I am led to believe it is set up like that as economical.
I would try resetting it via VCDS, there is a guide on here which I used a few weeks ago as mine did not feel right and once reset and drove for 10 mins it was much better but t still does change gears very quickly.
Have you tried it in S mode as that stretches out the gear changes for maximum power?

I dont have VCDS so cant reset it! Shame!!!
Sport mode seems to be fine even though i hardly use S mode
I had no option today but to book it in with VW who have already charged me £93 just to diagnose it
Today it has been running fine, some days it does and some it doesn't so its not constant
Really dont want to go VW but i have no other options

Who done the past DSG services (dealer or past owner) - DSG oil checked for correct level would be worth doing before pulling anything to bits - you need VCDS and a filling tool - since your already booked in ask the dealer to check cause they'll fit the most expensive item since it's not their money!!!!!

You really need to do a DSG reset first mate!!!! I did it on mine a few years back when i had the same issue as you. It was instantly better and then continued to get better over the next few days as it learnt my driving style.
There is a topic on here where you can find people in your area, im sure someone can list it here. It take about 15 mins but well worth it and might save you a few hundred quid.

I second the DS Reset, worked a treat for me when the DSG seemed jerky when 1st got it, did a reset and then after a day or so was lovely to drive.
I am no expert at all on DSG but I would presume the S mode uses the same process and mechanics as D but just a different setting so if it works fine in S I would say it may be something as simple as a reset needed.
If you post where you are on here or there is a listing of where people with VCDS on here somewhere who could help. The stealer will rip you off just for running a diagnostics

DSG service was done in Feb by VW. They quoted me £130 for a reset and told me that they 'don't recommend a reset'??? ;)

Any tips for a DSG reset? As in once done, do i need to drive a specific way? How long does it take to take affect etc etc etc

New problem occured tonight!!!!
Start the motor, Rev it and release the throttle and rather than dropping down to normal it holds at 1700 rpm! Like theres a clutch issue!!!!!!
Any ideas :confused:

Assuming you've done this in park mode I can't see how this is related to your clutch pack or gearbox ? When you have your DSG reset, they should run a full scan first anyway, this may have an answer to your issue
