As above guys I've been doing some research and have found a few places and a very good website.
http://www.greatestdrivingroads.com/
But was looking for some first hand reviews from people who have the same or a very similar car. I've got a week off between the 27th July and 2nd August and fancy doing a road trip around some good roads in the UK. So where would you guys reccomend? I've heard good things about the Lake district and Yorkshire dales also some good stuff in Scotland and Wales.
The more detailed (road names anf what stretch) the better

The A4086 and A5 are probably why I have 9 points and a knackered gearbox... such great roads. You do tend to get a bit carried away. :rolleye:

A537 cat and fiddle is my local "track" lol does have average speed cameras on now but from Macclesfield to the the pub they don't work but from the pub to Buxton they do (I'm up there atleast once a week on my bike)
A4212 from Bala North Wales, cracking road, can be quite high speed at parts. Definitely a really early morning road so you can have a good run.
A494 North Wales. Again a cracking road, really good surface. Again early morning so you can have a good run.
There's a road in Derbyshire near Buxton called "The ditch" just off the a5270. Quite a tight road with dry stone walls both sides. 9 times out of 10 there's practically no on on it, some nice crests that you could easily take air from and a couple of nice straights that you could see three figure speedo readings on lol
That's all I can think of for now

The road that goes Welshpool-Newtown-Aberystwyth. Mid Wales.
Get it wrong and it's off the side of a mountain. Get it right and it's simply perfect.

That's my stomping ground lol.

My parents live in Dinas, down the coast from Cardigan, so when I go down to visit I always use that road. Could go south then M4 instead but that would be boring!

Is it the a470??

A483 - A470 - A44.
Some sections you can see 3 or 4 apexes ahead, so if the road's quiet, and dry, it's bloody brilliant!
Incidentally I drove it in the wet last week, and let's just say these Michelin Super Sports are GOOD.

I've already done that run a couple of times on my bike. My main riding buddy is practically a walking AtoZ for Wales lol
Can't beat the roads round there. Not done much in a car but I normally set off at around 5am on a Sunday on the bike, Try and break land speed records around Wales, home for say 2pm, sit down and wonder how I'm still alive

Haha, yeah the journey from mine (north notts) to Dinas usually takes 5 hours. Last couple of times in the GTI it's been 'a bit less'...
Loads of bikes on there making similar progress if you know what I mean! Just got to be wary around Welshpool, seems to be quite a few camera vans about.
But further on, when you get up in the hills, it's there to be had. Good fun. And shows the standard 312 brakes up as a major weak link of the GTI!

Mate do my usual jaunt - A272 from Winchester to Petersfield. Amazing.
Then if you are free on time you can head down the A285 to Chicester, then you can take a right turn along some proper back end country roads. Wonderful, used to hit them on my bike a lot

Nice little list going here guys thanks very much. Will definitely try to get a few of these done next week.

No no... All in one day. New Year's Day 2014. Empty roads. Tank and a bit of V Power. I couldn't recommend it highly enough. Put it on your bucket list

I meant like 1 day to edinborough, 1 day doing the awesome route then 1 day home. That must have been one hell of a way to start the year off though. It definitely is going on there mate :happy2:

For us up in Scotchland, the A85/84/82 via Glencoe is a great, picturesque stretch.. if only with one too many tour buses :fighting:

I know it well. Some great views then a coffee break at morrisons :driver:
Still have some nice memories of my biking days going up and over Hartside to Alston and Middleton Up the 68 and 69 Home in time for tea. :drinking:

Cat and fiddle and the snake pass definitely. The woodhead pass can be good fun too if you get a clean run with no traffic.
