Title: Early Xmas Present
Post by: SteveP on December 15, 2009, 07:31:21 pm
As spotted earlier by TomB I popped into my local dealers to collect a few bits and bobs   :xmaspresent:

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi281.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fkk207%2FStevep_010%2F363c50d8.jpg&hash=4cee80afdcb0d7c582a7a408c60a375a494131c0)

The full kit to install the Mk6 reversing camera

Really like the detail of bevelled edge on the newer style badge

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi281.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fkk207%2FStevep_010%2Fc330369a.jpg&hash=7dd2bac0244b0a9113cf73b3a621896b426709d3)

Can't wait to get it fitted (weather permitting this weekend)  :santa:

awesome!  :xmassmiley:

wont be an easy job to fit though will it steve? has anyone done this before to a MK5?? cool idea bet it wasnt cheap though couple of hundred??

It's not too bad to fit, the biggest challenge is the slight cutting of one of the supports for the rear wiper motor  :scared:

But the dremmel will soon sort that out  :rolleye:

The cost isn't cheap but I think it will be well worth it  :santa:

How much was the kit steve??, perhaps i can ask Mrs clause for one.

She rather liked it after we had the Mk6 GTD for the day.

Boobs Vision again FTW!!  :pomppomp:

The list price was £274 inc VAT plus you need to allow for some bits of wire, heat shrink and a fuse  :santa:

you can get tiny camera s now that are realy clear , you could just mount one inside the top of the rear window
does the rns510 have phono input on the back  ?

Ive actually had a play with this on Golfmans(Scotts) Golf one of the first to do it on the mk5 and it is one of them mods that would clinch a sale if selling on... :happy2:

Its very clear and if you have the 2660 firmware it give you a wide screen view and the side bar is retractable and transparent.

I'm not jealous at all , nope , not in the slightest......... :P

Yes installed it all myself using some of the info from the my-gti.com and camelcc guides that are floating about
