Title: More from my day out today......
Post by: SteveP on December 19, 2008, 04:41:39 pm
As mentioned in my other thread today Superchips let me take out something that really hasn't helped my modifying habit, as the observant will notice this is VW Racing's highly modified MK5 (as recently driven by RedRobin), but she's had a bit more work done to here and now is spotting an even nicer set of rims: -

It had been dyno'ed at around 330bhp that morning

All I can say is WOW, the difference the diff and very well setup suspension make is unreal, coming off a roundabout onto a dual carriageway in third it just took off with no tractor issues at all, and before you know it the speed limit was reached

However I think I could have had just as much fun (but in a different way) if I had taken this out (just but remapped to 240bhp): -

Isn't she just an amazing car!!? Did you like the sounds from inside the cabin? - Quite the best I've heard!

Yes, those rims look much better and less blingy.

I'm up at VWR/RacingLine again during first week of January for my suspension.

If you want a Quaife I would strongly recommend them and can introduce you (not that you need any intro).

....The ThunderBunny front (it's a VW part) looks much better for real than in pics.

What mods? - How much time have you got to read the loooong list. I've just been in touch with VWR - They may register and post here so you get it direct from the horse's mouth.

....I'm still smiling from the memory of it!! And your post is bringing it all back!

The cabin sound is 'helped' by her being on poly bushes throughout plus engine mounts, her custom brakes, competition clutch, air intake, Milltek, etc - All the usual. She's not noisy (in my opinion) but you can hear everything working and I love that. I adore the sound and feel of driving that car!

Imagine if she was DSG as well!!

Love the wheels, are they Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2?

I think Neil from VW driver mag may be doing an article on this car soon.

No they aren't Pro Race 1.2's.

They say flashpoint on one spoke.

These are pro race 1.2's :innocent:

Yes, VWR are a VERY nice bunch of people - I've had more than one very good experience of them and their service. You have to fit in with their racing schedule but they really do look after you when it's your turn.

I even got a Christmas card from them today!

....It's not an Edition 30 badge.

VW's style of badge they've used for the Ed30 is hardly original.

It does look the same. A rectangular plaque with straight text on is the easiest and cheapest badge you can make - You could get it done at your local high street shoe repairers! VW didn't go to a lot of effort on the Ed30 plaques imo.

they went to even less effort for the interior badges at first. us anniversary owners didnt get anything outside!
