Hi All,
I noticed a noise coming from the engine bay the other day so recorded it to see if anyone has an idea if this is a fault and if so what it could be

Sounds normal to me, not sure if I'm missing which sound you're referring to though?

That is what I wanted to hear, I think it is the main sound of the belt going round I presume but was not sure if this was a bit noisy suggesting a fault

Ah, then yeah mine sounds the same (170 TDI) before and after belt kit was done.

If you are worried pour some water on where the belt is and see if the noise (if there's one we can't hear on the video ) stops. If so it will be a pully, belt or water pump. Did it for my tsi and ended up being the water pump

Can you hear the ticking insife the car? If so its a loose fanbelt tensioner. Solved the problem on mine

Thanks chaps, I am just hoping it is my mind playing tricks on me and there is nothing wrong but will try the water trick and listen for the ticking to find out if there is any issues.

i have the same ticking noise on my 2005 GTi, as far as I'm aware its standard for it to sound like this although its not nice or appealing.. it is what it is

Sounds normal. Read up on this as i was concerned. Some say it is the noisy injectors. Nothing to worry about i was told
