Title: Funny smell coming from vents
Post by: Jayy26 on July 22, 2015, 12:45:54 pm
My car had a full service a couple of months ago and has been fine but the last month every time my inside fans come on theres a weird damp smell ..ive tried one air freshener but that just made my car smell nice haha is they any point in buying an anti bacterial one?

I dont know if this has anything to do with both of my radiators fans stopping form working?

Might be your air con mate.
When I got mine it was very smelly sprayed a can of disinfectant spray through the vents and underneath glovebox with pollen filter out.
Also trying running your ac on hot for a while should help.
You can get a can of air con cleaner which is foamed based witch you do the same thing.

Yeh my mate said about the pollen filter but it hasn't been long since it was changed with a service :/ if it's not that in going to back an aircon cleaner..tbh it doesn't really alter the smell with aircon on or of or heat or cold..

You need to leave it on hot for a while.  It's usually stale water / mould gathering in the heat exchanger box that causes the putrid pongs.  Drying it out with the heater on for a few journeys tends to sort it.  If not, the disinfectant spray linked above might be the only cure.

right ill try leaving it on hot and check filter then if its none of them ill buy an air con bomb thing..

Im guessing that box is sealed? could my radiator fans not working at have something to do with it?
