Title: Think my dsg has died
Post by: Bart75 on July 22, 2015, 02:10:20 pm
My 2006 gti has developed a dsg fault  :scared:I've got the gear selection lights flashing on the dash and it's stuck in one gear. Anyone got any ideas? Or know of the best place to take it? I'm in ashford Kent. Any help much appreciated.

get someone to scan it with VCDS.

You can try disconnecting battery for a bit and reconnect and then see what happens.

When was the DSG oil and filter changed?

If its a mechatronics fault you can get it sent for repair to BBA Reman or ECU Testing, BBA Are in catham just off the m2

Thanks for the reply, dsg fluid and filter last changed 3months ago. Have tried disconnecting battery and still the same. Will try and get codes read have you any rough idea on price of megatronics rebuild/refurb? Appreciate the info

:(  Seems to be a lot of gearbox issues lately - perhaps added heat thins the oil further and protects things less.

Anyway.. a 2nd hand DSG box seem to be around £1k on the Bay... my Manual has died, those are about £300 --- I was looking at rebuilds but it seems to be an open can regarding what needs doing, mine has 155k, so a low mileage box over rebuild is probably wiser all things considered.

Good luck, hopefully you don't need a new box.

Mechatronics refurb is around £650. Ask Tejinder as he knows the company name.  :happy2:

Ecu Testing will rebuild for £250 and give a lifetime warranty!

Tried them for my broken mecha. Only if it is fixable do they charge that. If its beyond repair, they cannot help

They couldn't fix mine (Didnt charge test fee for unrepairable unit) so Im going to try BBA Reman as they say they can fix with the problem mines exhibiting.

Googling BBA Reman brings up some rather poor reviews

Hmm.. Im going to see them in person anyway but they have had issues in the past but have put them right by various means for whatever reason. So overall buyers seem satisfied.

Am aware they can also say sorry we cant fix it if its beyond their repair knowhow.
