Did mine last month and it's really easy if you've got the tools.

Plenty of youtube vids and guides on how to do it, but just thought I'd mention a couple of things.

You'll need an 18mm triple square (or VW tool no T10162A, 3/4" drive), a 14mm triple square for the caliper carrier and a long breaker bar (3/4" drive).

I've heard of cheap 18mm triple square bits snapping (the hub retaining bolt is done up real tight) so I went with the VW tool and it was only a tenner!  Cheaper than ebay.  Word of warning though, not all dealers will sell you official tools, but mine do.
A 3 foot 3/4" breaker was about £20 from Machine Mart, so quite cheap.

I've also heard of people not needing to remove the carrier in order to get the disc off, but on my ED30 that wasn't possible.  Carrier had to come off.  Maybe the people saying that have TDIs with smaller diameter discs or something?

The bearing comes as a complete hub unit inc ABS reluctor ring and it's £120ish, that's the only pricey bit.

Great info! I can get the whole bearing for 109e oem quality. Will need to buy the 18 triple key
