Title: S3 / R32 front calipers round bobbly thingy

Haven't had much time to examine but with is the round bit on the rear of the s3 / r32 front calipers and what's its purpose? Don't know it's proper name so didn't know how to search for it

I think its a anti vibration damper or something along them lines.

Its not required to be honest. I ran some without for 50+k miles with no issues.
