I drive over what feels like a 100 speed bumps each day. Whilst driving home last night I had the windows open and the radio off. I quickly noticed when driving over the speed bumps I can hear a clunking metallic noise which appears to be coming from the front OS under the car. I had a butchers underneath when I got home but couldn't see anything out of the ordinary. Will jack it up at the weekend for a better inspection. Was hoping someone may have experienced this before and point me in the right direction?
Thanks

There's many things on the suspension setup to check but I noticed a slight rattle from N/S rear last week which gradually got worse, had a look underneath but couldn't see anything loose and turned out a spring had given in. Common problem on mk5's so worth checking.

I been getting a clunking sound and had it checked out and its the steering rack. Steering feels fine, I just get clunking over bumps..
Was worst case scenario with it being so bloody expensive to replace too.

So I figured out where the noise was coming from in the end. Turns out the OS rear brake shield's bolts had rusted/sheared off. I opted just to remove it instead of stripping everything down to re-fit a new part. No more rattles! Hurrah!!
