Hi all!
Joined the forum as looking at purchasing a Golf GTI and want to learn as much as possible before I part with my cash.
I currently drive a Smart Brabus Roadster but looking for something a little larger ;-)
Will miss this little car as it's put a smile on my face every time I've driven it.

I'm looking a a GTI DSG - with less than 100k miles. Noticed a couple in the for-sale section but guessing I need to make a number of posts before I can get involved with that.
The more extras the better.
I've got the finance in place and checked insure etc so I'm good to go. Just need to find the right car now.
Thanks in advance for any buying advice.

Would prefer an edition 30 in black or grey really. Unless they ever did one in laser blue.

Can anyone point me towards a good buyers guide? Things to look for?

A 'welcome aboard mate' from Leicester too :happy2:

Think I need to advertise my roadster somewhere better than gumtree. Anyone recommend auto trader?
Is it worth the cost. Seems expensive.

Sorry if I missed it.
How many posts do I need to make before I can post in sale section?
There is a car in there I would like it enquirer about.
Thanks,

Please ignore me - I was using tapatalk and couldn't see the stickies.
Logged on with website now and can see I need 25 posts.
Not really sure what to post about as currently don't have a golf :-(
If I was allowed to reply in the sales section I might have soon. lol catch 22.

Hello from a fellow Leicester member @Matt81 (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=13704)
Good choice on the car looks like a tidy example. Did you manage to shift your roadster?
Usual things to look out for are diverter valves, pcv valve, cam followers and ignition coils..oh and be wary of rust on the arches and sills and boot handle. Sounds like a horror story but not as bad as it seems!
-
Morning all,
Had a bit of a bumpy start to ownership.
Missfire on cylinder 4 - replaced coil.
Missfire on cylinder 4 - replaced other coils and fitted new plugs.
Missfire on cylinder 4 - new injector....... FIXED hurrah.
Not really done much so far (just little bits)..
Full Valet
New Bosch wipers all round
New GTI centre caps as VW one's a bit tatty.
New wheel bolt covers all round as existing ones gone white.
Alloy DSG shifters added.
Updated all software and maps on Kenwood.
New sexy boot screen and background added to Kenwood (which I'm having troubles with when trying to use USB). Also set button led colour to match standard blue.
Ordered Heko wind deflectors.
Added VW bottle opener/cup holder.
Added Missile and Ejector seat decals to blank buttons - quality ones not cheap ones. Always make me smile when I see them ;-)
Added edition 30 plaque to ash Tray cover - I know it's the "wrong" place but I like it there.
I've booked in for a cam belt change but the mechanic keeps letting me down. Think I'll have to book in elsewhere and just pay more.
Really want to get pre-cat removed but not sure best place to go to get this done.
Only other plans are Stage 1 remap and performance filter. Otherwise I want to keep it pretty standard.
Sold the Roadster - was very sad to see it go :-(

@Matt81 (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=13704) how much was the injector fix? i have cylinder misfire on 2 and have started with pack so far.
VW leicester did my cam belt and water pump for £250 which i thought was pretty good for main dealer
-
I paid £300 I think for injector and labour.
I've got the cambelt kit and pump.
Just need someone to fit it now.

Dude!! Thats cheap, cheap, cheap :happy2:
The parts alone are over €150 (£110) here in Ireland. Best price you'll get a VW main dealer to do cambelt and pump in Ireland is €399 (£290) and that's just because there's a special deal on at the minute. Usually it'd be a good bit more expensive again :sad1:
-
That's a great price mate
-
Cheers.
I've booked in for cambelt at same place that did injector.
Also gonna get the to have a look at my hiss near brake pedal.

@ducman77 (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=7463) that's what I thought. I didn't hang about when they told me the price booked it right in. Don't think it was a national offer though and may have been only specific to certain dealerships.
