Title: 4" mids for doors?
Post by: Rob. on August 11, 2015, 07:50:58 pm
I'm trying to cobble together a 3-way front end for my Jetta with some 8" midbass, 4" mids and tweeters.

I've built a few audio installs over the years, so I know buying a dedicated 3-way speaker set would be best, but I can't really justify the £200+. I have amps, midbass and tweeters already, so I just need some 4" mids that fit.

I bought some Phonocar 2/640 ages ago, but when I tested fitted them, I found the magnet was too big for the hole in the door.

Do you guys know any alternatives I could use?

Thanks.

Can't help you with the 4" cones, but I'll be looking to do something similar myself at some point. So if you have a build thread or you're doing a write up of the info, please let me know. I'd find it very handy!

Only thing putting me off with the mk5 is that the front enclosures (on a 3dr at least) are much further back than they would be for good sound projection.

Anyway, good luck with the install mate.

These are about the closest thing I can find (outside of buying a full 3-way set)
