Mk5 General Area / Re: Mot nightmare of the decade...

Mmm tried the lock to lock a few times.
Braking and turning the same time.
Driving in circles.
Last time battery disconnected it did learn. After 60 miles. On a straight bit of road.
This time on over 100 miles.no joy.
Grrrr....
Need an alternative way to put light out , permanently and   ideally not removing the dial binnacle or gaffer tape. Any way possible legit  or not.
Thanks for the suggestions I'm all ears

Yes, if battery has been disconnected steering full lock in both directions and hold for a couple of seconds in each lock stop. Also a short drive in a straight line. Although if there's any faults on the ABS such as rear sensors then the lights will not clear.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that if you disconnect the battery and have some warning lights afterwards you simply just need to drive it and use it normally and it will calibrate the sensors and the lights will go out.  Try that before anything else

Hi,
I did all the mot work and took it back.
There were no dashboard lamps on previously,  but to do the work the battery was disconnected.
So when it went back there were new dashboard warning lights Mr.motman was furious.
Anyway I spent a fortune so far, the car won't be sold on ever, just need the lamps out.
Are the dashboard fault lamps LED or other?
Does the dual section need to be removed?
Is there a fuse that can be pulled?
(Before denigrating this the car drives fine and will be scrapped in the near future)!!!
Pps is there a definitive way of deciding whether the steering angle sensors are in rack
Or column pls?

Hi people
Have a read of this recent Evo magazine article on the Mk 5 Gti.
In it, it quotes the Mk5 GTi as being worth £8000 upwards - really?!

What’s the low pressure feed pipe to the HPFP look like? This caused me no end of fuel pressure issues, it’s worth trying for £20
