Would a smoke test be the next best approach here?

Possibly brake booster hose or pcv to intake hose connections. In my case both were leaking

Leaking brake servo or brake booster as some call it. Also check the hose from the vacuum  pump on the side of the cylinder head to the servo for cracks and leaks.

I fitted Golf R Mk7 (MQB platform) 340mm brakes to the front of my Edition30 - awesome difference in braking, you'll love it!  Better initial feel and you can just feel the braking power there ready to use if needed.  I resprayed in GTI red and applied GTI decals to them too, looks superb.

I've also got almost shot rear brakes that I intend to swap out at some point to complete the full upgrade - I bought a brand new R32 rear setup, plus braided lines and handbrake cables, but haven't found enough time in the day to fit it all yet.  Also need to respray these before fitting as they are in R32 blue.

I have thought about selling mine too, because I don't use it for commuting and have recently acquired a 20yr old Citroen Berlingo MPV that I'm using as a utility / future work van and it's alot of money to have sitting there for weekend use, but can't bring myself to - It feels like a new car when I drive it and I know I couldn't find much better for the money I paid for it!  Glad to see you enjoying yours still!

Nice, cheers mate. Aye I was unsure which ones to go for on the front, I’ll be honest I thought that the golf R and the R32/S3 setups were the same! Where did you get the GTI decals from? Just eBay?

Got my front’s all painted up ready to fit, along with drilled brembos and matching pads, I’ll get round to getting them fitted soon!

Rear brakes have now been done, the drivers caliper was seized and that was what wore the pads down, all stripped, cleaned, painted and re-assembled, I did buy discs but to be honest the discs were pretty much brand new that were on it so I’ve kept them for another time. Also took the time to clean and ceramic coat the wheels while they were off.

As you say, there isn’t much else that drives like it for the money, I also heard someone say ‘You don’t see many of those edition 30’s about these days’ whilst I had my window down then other week, it made me think ‘You know what, you’re right…….I’m keeping it!’

Pretty sure Sachs are the genuine supplier to VW. Lemforder are likely to be the supplier to VW but don’t know for sure. They are the OEM supplier on my Range Rover. Excellent quality in any event.

Hey folks, looking for a bit of advice. I’m getting a hissing noise inside the cabin, and when I press the brake pedal it disappears. Has anyone experienced this before or know what the common causes or fixes might be? Any advice appreciated!

Nice work.
Are Sachs and Lemforder original equipment.
Because I couldn't decide what brand top mounts to buy, I ended up getting mine from TPS they were quite expensive, if I remember they were about £120 for the pair.

Sachs and Monroe should be OE. Audi A4 B7 S-line comes with Monroe and GTIs should come with Sachs but I'm not 100% sure. Either way, you can't go wrong with either. KYB on the other hand are stiff af in my experience. I run them on stock springs on my other Jetta and they are stiffer than this car with Bilstein B4 Sport and Eibach Sportline...

Lemforder are a solid choice for everything else. I run them for anything drivetrain/suspension related and have no issues.

Impressive! I’m looking to do similar soon, don’t suppose you have a list of part numbers/prices?

Just made a new thread for everything listed.
