Will a 2010 TSI GTI TB fit a 2005 TFSI GTI?
« on: August 27, 2013, 02:05:25 pm »
My original part number is: 06F 133 062 G

And the 2010 one is: 06F 133 062 J

Only the last letter is different, should be all good, no?

It will, but it wont work if you have had a TB failure.  Needs to be Q at the end.

Why's that mate?

Would a 06F 133 062 G not work either?

I have VCDS...

Can anyone expand on what Alex has mentioned above?

The main reason in me not wanting to grab a brand new (not only because of the huge cost difference) but the fact that I'm not100% convinced the TB is dead.. Why?  Because I've read a lot of threads with this exact error code that wasnt solved with a new TB, they then went on to try 4x TBs, ECU, replace the wiring loom, the latter one only getting rid of the g187/188 code, on the original TB... So even though a new TB may solve this short term the updated wiring maintained the longevity; at least for those owners.

I plan on doing a full resistance check on all plugs and ecu, cleaning everything up, clearing fault codes, doing a TBA and seeing whether the faults reappear.

But the statement above has me questioning whether I cannot use anything but a Q variant which seems very odd... Unless this was said simply as the best one to use rather than you Cannot use any other versions...  Love to fully understand this.

I cant say the exact reason that using used or old TB's on a car that has the G188 fault wont work.  I have tried used ones that I know work and they come up with the same G188 fault as before.  Only was I've solved the fault is with a brand new Q TB (A used Q may work fine too).

There are two sensors in the side plastic of the TB, these are now a revised part on the Q TB's.

What exactly is the fault you have?  If its a G69 or G188 fault, then a new Q TB will cure it.  I have done 25+ TB's in the past year, with no Q versions going faulty in that time.

Found a low mileage Q version for £70, just fitted it, and it's green lights across the board after giving it a good 40 min run. :pomppomp:

Thanks for the suggestion Alex, hope it lasts. :happy2:
