You need some sort of visual line on the expansion bottle to see the fluid don't you. Okay, I check mine every time I open the bonnet (OCD ahoy!)

....I was going to say exactly the same. I too check mine every time I open my bonnet. It's stupid not to regularly check.

As part of my E38 preparations I decided to take the wheels off and give them a good polish and it would have been rude not to stick the Space Saver on for a wee picture

Was much work required to cut the engine cover to fit? Something I have been tempted to do recently?

Still so awesome man!

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

It's looking good, having a short number plate on it again would clean up the rear in my opinion.

i dont imitate.......... ok i lied it was only a black primer  :signLOL:

I hunted the web for a decent engine cover and eventually gave up and modified the STD engine cover to accept the new intake.
I saw a few posts on here regarding modifying the std cover but after seeing pics of illektronik's bay i decided it was the best way to go, like illektronik i cut out the air box section but i spent a bit of time plastic welding a section on the side to finish it off rather than leaving it exposed. I also spent a bit time trying to securing it better but in the end went with some good old velcro

Not sure if i like the engine cover in green to be honest but it will have to do for now, also colour coded the slam panel and expansion bottle (as my other one isnt finished)

Ah, so you're THAT Chris! I had no idea when you emailed me mate. Love the work on the plastic welding. Super clean. Looks mint.  :happy2: Like the attention to detail. Appears as though the torx screws have even had a job done on them.

One hell of a build, and it's good to see you got it back and are pushing further ahead.  :congrats:
