350bhp&350lbft
« on: March 22, 2012, 09:16:12 am »
Hi everyone, just had my ed30 fitted with a milltek sportscat, walk kit, custom map & dsg map at r-tech...the end result is just over 300bhp & about the same with lbft.its brilliant but I'm wanting more power with push bk on yr seat style acceleration....what other options can I do for my quest for more lbft??want to keep the back box as standard as the misses will go mental & also best to keep the oem airbox as I'm not a fan of induction roar & also the misses might notice it...Is it possible to get the figures above without changing the items mentioned??

Unless you are prepared to spend 750-1000 on chassis modifications, 300bhp is a sensible amount. Much more and your just going to hit the tree a bit faster and a bit more sideways.

I'm mostly here just to help, not so much to participate in sales activities.....

but, what you describe is exactly what an APR Stage III and RSC Technology Exhaust System provides.

Induction noise is at a minimum and when cruising, the RSC Technology keeps the sounds levels at or below standard.  When you got WOT, you get all of the growl of a beautifully refined performance exhaust but closer to 400BHP.

Here's some information about the two products from our USA website:

http://www.goapr.com/products/stage3_20t_fsi_trans_265hp.html

http://www.goapr.com/products/apr_exhaust_20tfsi.html

These graphs illustrate the sounds levels and frequencies present in the RSC system in comparison to a Milltek for a MK5 GTi.

This video shows TUV sound level testing and the RSC passes quite handily:

@ the OP

Without the intake your always going to limit the power available with the std K04 turbo.  Adding the HPFP and getting a stage 2+ map will release more midrange although your top end will still be choked by the stock airbox.  Id expect 320-330Hp with stage 2+ on the stock intake.

The other option i think as keith and carl have said is to go for a bigger turbo.  That will give you the extra power, but of course its still going to be running no where near its potential if your still running the stock airbox.  Have you considered an enclosed intake?  They are alot quieter than the open filters.

If you dont want noise, id steer clear of the evoms, ITG maxogen, neuspeeds, BSH etc

Your the same as me tbh, i dont want to much noise.  im running just a DP and an enclosed filter intake on my car and its marginally louder than stock.

you dont need £700-1000 spending on the chassis if your not tracking it tbh.  You could get away with just lowering springs, some better brake pads and maybe a rear anti roll bar.  Whilst it wont be as good as a fully kitted out car, it'll still be better than stock.  That would only be about £350

Go to a place called motorscope and get you car on their rolling road. stage 1 cars make 320bhp, stage 2+ Revo make over 380bhp, you can save yourself loads of money  :signLOL:
I thinkg you'll definetly struggle to get those figures you want with a standard airbox though
