I remember asking about this over a year ago when I first got it. It was the meet at JKM. As above only warns you of possibility of icy roads.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

And if you leave the engine running whilst you do it the car is warmish by the time you've finished, especially if it's a thick coating of ice :happy2:

how dude? its merely starting your engine  :smiley:

I don't know... something to do with the engine not getting lubricated enough if it's just left to idle when cold ?  :confused: What do I know, I'm just a girl!  :grin:

in the case of my .:R32 i have to let it idle all the time in cold weather as when you start it you have to wait for the oil to get to temp, this is indicated by the car holding the revs over 1200 for about 30/60 seconds.  VW do say they recommend to drive the car during this period due to emmissions although its healthier for the engine if i dont  :smiley:
