My Bagged mk 5 Gti build thread
« on: May 17, 2009, 11:13:29 pm »
After being reccommended to register on the site i thought i best sign up and support the uk mk 5, Heres my build thread hope you like.

I've had the car for just over a week now and i love it.

I managed to pick up my wheels before the car.

I then managed to get myself a Magnex cat back system

Then being as i own an audio interior business it'd be rude not to start playing with the interior

stripped the dash and door parts

Then trimmed them in a charcoal alcantara

Then off with the doors for some hardcore sound proofing and running new chord cable into the doors ready for the speaker upgrade.

then wave diffused the soundproofing to help stop back waves and deaden the doors some more.

My airride arrived Yesterday, it's going to take a few months to install but progress should be constant on the whole car.

Air lift products rock and there service is great.

Management

Then i thought i'd strip the controller down ready for fabricating into the sunglasses holder

I didnt like the fact the 3 preset buttons through the controller off being symetrical so i am currently re wirering the circuit board to relocate these switches somewhere trick.

primed up

Flatted the primer this morning and refitted it i'll leave it there for a week or so to make sure no shrinkages occur.

Thought i'd start off with a bit of subtle branding for my company had someone out to etch my glass i'm well in love lol.

My shark fin aerial arrived today for when i drop the rooflinging tomoz hopefully for trimming

Carried on the alcantara theme and started trimming pillars done both the c pillars now.

I've also started the very labour intensive job of building my badgless grill all mocked in ready for some plastic welding and filling

well thought i'd have another full  day on it before the week starts again.

dropped the headlining ready for some cable running and soundproofing.

Then why the roof lining was down it made it easy to change the roof aerial for the shark fin I had, But its just didn't follow the roof line etc and looked poop in my eyes. Goin to order another shark fin a smaller one with a different style see how that looks if not i'll just rock the standard one until the body gets done ed of the year.

then why the rooflinign was out i got that all trimmed up and is ready to go back in after all the rest of the prep work is done.

Hope you like.

I'm based in Leicester,

Yes it's not a pretty job taking the door skins off but worth it for the end result. It took me just over a day to do both doors  :happy2:

Nice work!

I really like it, and I'm a big fan of the Alphards, I got some Merc wheels in a similar style last year and picked up the car in February!   If I wasn't unemployed at the minute there'd be coilovers on the car and tyres on the beauties!
