Protecting wheels - Wash, decon and seal ?
edd30:
So a wheel cleaner to clean the dust
Iron X or similar and tar remover to decontaminate
What do I use to protect my shiny wheels ?
Want it to last as longs as possible. I don't mind taking the wheels off, say once a year and doing it.
Wax ? Polymer sealant ?
Autoglym Wheel Seal any good ?
edd30:
No one ?

For the best protection Cqaurts or C5 will last the longest and give the best barrier between dirt and the wheel, you will also need some IPA to wipe over the wheel with after you've cleaned/ decontaminated but before you apply the product.
Otherwise FK1000 hitemp wax is very good and is easier to apply bit will need doing 2-3x more often than a ceramic coating. Autoglym alloy wheel seal will give about 4 days protection.

Thanks Dan.
AG Wheel protection less than a week ? Hardly worth using.
Looked at Poorboy's wheel paste, they recommend weekly ... so not much better.
Gtechniq C5 Wheel Armour ? I've got 2 sets of wheel that need doing, will 30ml cover two wheels you think ?

Poorboys is pretty awful. Don't know why it's got such a good reputation. Probably because of #scenekids.
As Dan says, you want a ceramic coating. I have Carpro CQUK on my wheels, but it's much of a muchness.
30ml will be more than enough, I used about 10ml for 2 coats on 4 wheels including the barrels.
remove the wheels from the car, clean them thoroughly, and detar and remove iron as you said.
clay the barrels and faces as well
then you need to use an oil remover like carpro eraser or gtech panel wipe.
then once they're fully dry and prepped then you can apply your sealant.
i think organic waxes/sealants are a complete waste of time.
do a glass coating or nothing at all.
