Oil logo keeps displaying in clocks, GT TDI 2005

Hi all

I have a 55 plate GT TDI in the clocks the oil can logo in yellow keeps showing. There is own in the engine dipstick is on 3 quarters full.

Also this never happened before be yesterday was driving and the temp  gauge on the clocks shot up to max. The  warning on the dash said stop. The flash once was on for about 1 second and goes back to 90. It did it 2 times and did not do it again?

Help someone can shed some light on this

Oil pickup in the sump may be blocked or clagged up
Might be worth dropping the oil, removing the sump and checking out the pickup pipe
Oil starvation will kill an engine in short order

Ok is there anything I can check that easy. I don't have tools like that my self to check ?

Also just to add. I have read about he pick up pipe. People are saying after driving it for a bit. They are getting a oil light problem.

My oil light is coming on from start. Even when the car has being left a day. So as I turn the  ignition on with out even starting the engine. The oil light shows

Yellow light is an oil level sensor. Pressure is red :)
The sensor is the one at the bottom of the sump

The temp gauge SOUNDS like a coolant temperature sensor issue.
But it could also be a thermostat (stuck shut which then opens when it gets really hot) or a failing water pump.

I would change the coolant temp sensor (easy it's just on the bottle) and the thermostat for new genuine items and see.
