Help needed for new Mk5 GTI owner

lmannin8:
Couple of things have my slightly concerned and I'm wondering if anyone can lend some advice / experience.
When sat idle there's a slight juddering which you can feel while sat stopped.
Secondly, I have a whine at speed which I suspected wheel bearing (s) but having had it in a garage I'm told they seem fine and it may be gearbox! Has anyone had this?
The car is an 07 manual mk5 gti

Hi and welcome to the forum :)

Check your tyres as cheap tyres cause a horrible winning noise.
The tyres could be feathered on the edges- meaning the tread maybe up amd down like crocodile scales.

I'm having this slight juddering whilst sitting at idle so I've just purchased a set of new spark plugs and need to fit them.in to find out if this resolves the issue.
When was the last service and plug change carried out?.

AJP:
Apparently the juddering is caused by carbon buildup within the engine. Mine does this, once the engine's hot.

Not sure what can be done short of stripping the head and having valves cleaned etc. Terraclean and similar services seem to get mixed reviews.

Welcome to the site.

Hi there, thanks for the response.
When I picked up the car I had 4 new Pirellis P Zero's tracked, balanced and 4 wheel alignment done so hopefully that rules them out unless anyone knows this to be a noisy tire.
I'd be interested to hear how you get on with the spark plugs, how much and where did you purchase from please?

Leon

lmannin8:
I think mine doesn't need to be hot for the judder. I am aware I'm not using Super Unleaded though which when I fill it up will use from herein. Didn't realise this was a critical factor for FSI Engines.
