When I picked up the car I had 4 new Pirellis P Zero's tracked, balanced and 4 wheel alignment done so hopefully that rules them out unless anyone knows this to be a noisy tire.
I'd be interested to hear how you get on with the spark plugs, how much and where did you purchase from please?

Used pirelli p zero tyres tend to be more harsh for the road as I used them for 3 years on my TT before moving to Eagle F1 which to me were brilliant tyres and had amazing grip.

Plugs I purchased from ebay iridium BKR7EIX cost me £26.65 free carriage. here's the item number FYI.  161062214707

I will try fit the plugs in tomorrow if it's not too cold or wet of course.

Not sure what can be done short of stripping the head and having valves cleaned etc. Terraclean and similar services seem to get mixed reviews.

Really?, I've not heard of that but think I read that some where.
How does this carbon build up

AJP:
It's the nature of direct injection as far as I know.

Another stupid design for VAG huh?.

I'll let you know what happens when I replaced plugs with these Iridiums.

Also another thing I recall with the audi mk1 TT was the earth straps we added to the engine to chassis did make a huge difference as they tend to idle a little up and down.
I have loads of spare leads and gold plated cheese blocks so I'll do an earth lead add on and see how that turns out.

possible with pictures to guide you all.
