Edition 30 build number in sequence with engine number?

Sorry to bump this old thread but I just got one last month and had to email VW Germany (it's a german car, german 1st reg with 4 owners in my country already) to find out, as local dealers were clueless. VW DE emailed VW RO and told me it is number 1753 and they are waiting for me to pay/collect the plaque when I have the car registered on my name.

Really weird! Could they have just given me some random number?

A knowledgeable friend told me it's normal as it's LHD vs RHD and they have different different serial number, weird anyway, I thought they were all produced in the same factory and each car had its specific number regardless of LHD vs RHD.

I didn't think they issued the plaque twice? Is it the same car that's on the list on here? Surely you cant have 2 different cars with the same number?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking also. This car was originally purchased from Germany, LHD, and had 4 owners in my country already. Maybe VW made a mistake in the email they've sent me saying congrats on owning the car 1753 or something like that. I will see when I will go there to order it / pick it up.

If it's the same number and there are 2 cars with the same number I will make a dasauto video out of it  :fighting: :scared: :laugh:
