Carbon wrap looking good. How easy/difficult is it to remove the trim without breaking it?
Must get a set of window and light switches. Mine are a bit tired

Doddle to remove the trim. I used a trim removal tool to prize off one end and then clipped it all off. The clips can be tricky sometimes and one end of the trim has a hook on it.

Had my first go at some machine polishing today. Very pleased with the finish too. Took me about 9 hours in total but should be nicely sealed for the winter now.

Started with snow foam, rinse
Then 2 bucket wash, rinse
Iron X on the wheels and paintwork to remove contamination
Snow foam to finish, dry the car with drying towel
Meguiars correction compound with the microfibre pad
Meguiars Polish with another microfibre pad
Finished off with AutoFinnesse Tough Cost sealant.

Very happy with the finish now. My first time doing it properly and can definitely improve but just something to keep me interested in my spare time. Hopefully get to a couple of meets next year too.

* Gave the car another clean today. Just a maintenance wash to keep on top of it. Resealed again after using Auto Finesse Tough Coat. Followed by a quick once over with some Meguiars Carnauba Wax and all sorted.
* Also, have a new set of Pads and Discs to go on the front when i get chance.

Ever since i bought the car i have wanted to got over to the "Evo Triangle" to experience the roads. Its about 2 hours from me but today i finally did it. What a couple of roads they are and the car was faultless for the whole drive.
192.6 miles and averaged 36.2 MPG.

Such a fun car to drive and so comfortable for the longer journeys.

Although i love the car, i'm thinking of changing it come spring. My brother is selling his Stage 1 ED30 and will do me a good deal so i'm sorely tempted. Much more tuning potential from what i have read and seen. I hardly ever use the power, but it is so nice to have it there when i want it. Stage 2 and beyond would be very tempting with this also.

Ill try to get a couple of photo's up this evening too.

Finally, i'm looking to get to some meets next year. I'm North Midlands based and happy to travel if needs be. Where would people recommend?

Cheers

Going back a few months to your windscreen replacement; can you tell me how you went about it? Did you have damage that warranted going through insurance? Or just get it swapped as it was a bit tired (my situation)?

My '06s windscreen looks okay at a glance but is covered in fine scratches and a number of little ~1mm chips which keep catching my eye. Wondering myself how best to go about getting it changed.

Also, did you get an OEM VW screen put in, or one of auto glass' choosing?

Cheers!

The only issue i had with it was the fact that the previous owners had left the wiper blades for too long. There was scratches all across the screen. Didn't even speak to my insurance. Just booked it online with Autoglass and paid £75 for a new screen. They must have spoken to the insurers and sorted it?

It wasn't OEM but it had the correct blue tint and is still Pilkington Glass so very happy. No qualms from the Autoglass man. He did a very good job.
