My '06s windscreen looks okay at a glance but is covered in fine scratches and a number of little ~1mm chips which keep catching my eye. Wondering myself how best to go about getting it changed.

Also, did you get an OEM VW screen put in, or one of auto glass' choosing?

Cheers!

The only issue i had with it was the fact that the previous owners had left the wiper blades for too long. There was scratches all across the screen. Didn't even speak to my insurance. Just booked it online with Autoglass and paid £75 for a new screen. They must have spoken to the insurers and sorted it?

It wasn't OEM but it had the correct blue tint and is still Pilkington Glass so very happy. No qualms from the Autoglass man. He did a very good job.

Thanks for the info :)

Lovely looking car and you did a fantastic job on the detailing but 9 hours, sooner you than me, I'm useless at cleaning cars, have you thought about a bronze colour for the wheels, that's what I'm thinking for my laser blue when I get it.

How hard was the carbon wrap to do?

Steve.

Hey Steve,

It was a whole day detailing. Admittedly, very time consuming but the results speak for themselves. I've washed it 3 times since doing the machine polish and it still beads nicely and is holding up well.

Nothing new to shout about at the min but new front discs and pads are going on in the morning. Just enjoying driving it and filling it with 99.
Went for Pagid disc and pads as heard great reviews and got both sides pads and discs for £107 from ECP in one of their recent sales. I've also stuck on Black Washer and Coolant Caps and given the engine bay a clean.

Few photos to show you how its looking at the min. These were taken on a new DSLR I've just bought so trying to find the right angles, modes etc, but we shall get there.

Trying to hold off doing anything too big to it as come spring it may well be up for sale. My brother is definitely looking to sell on his Stage 1 Edition 30 so If funds allow, ill be having that off him. Have stuck on a few photos from a recent trip out and a glorious sunset this evening.

A recent one from the top of the Horseshoe Pass

Having time off is always a bad thing for me, purely because I become bored and ideas for the GTI float about in my head. The Christmas has been no different. As well as eating way too much and spending too much time looking at some of the threads on here, it was time to spend some money.

As I've said In a previous post or two. My brother is selling his ED30. Im struggling to part with the GTI so it will be staying. What I've done instead is cannibalise his car for the best bits. This includes a Pioneer DA120 (App Radio 4) and a Milltek CatBack Exhaust which is being fitted tomorrow. I had originally bought an RNS510 off a gent on here but couldn't turn down the deal he was doing me on the DA120. Ive also got plans to add the reversing camera onto this too which I'm rather looking forward too.
Regards the Milltek. Its just under a year old and has only done approx 6000 miles so should be a nice addition to the car. Im also going to get the centre resonator cut out and swapped for a straight pipe at the end of Jan. Im after a touch more noise under high rev's but I don't want drone on the longer journeys.

Along with the RNS510 I had purchase came an updated Canbus and a Polar FIS+. The can bus is the single worst job I've ever undertaken. On a DSG it would be a doddle as there is no clutch pedal in the way, but on a manual, what a nightmare! The Polar FIS is a great little addition. I've always wanted to see the MPH on my Highline display but never been able to. Now I can!

I also took advantage of the Boxing Day offer at AutoFinesse and stocked up on a few bits. The GTI is in dire need of a wash, but will have to wait for another week or two yet I'm sure.

Few photos of everything apart from the Milltek fitted.
