Not sure if I'm posting it in the right section but thought I'd through up a couple of pics of my Jetta 2.0 Sport TDi which I've just acquired from my dad, ex taxi, 146,000 miles, plans are to tidy it up and do some OEM Mods on it.

Andy:
Looks like it's been well looked after as most taxi's round here are full of dents

It's had damage in its life but each and every year for taxi test the damage needs fixed otherwise it won't pass, had a dent in front wheel arch and smashed door mirror indicator lense from a drunk driver cutting my dad up, rear 1/4 was rippled from reversing down a dark lane and night and clipping a post. All 4 sill corners are dented from a tyre place jacking it up on n the sills rather than jacking points. It's got a hole in the roof from where fixed taxi radio aerial was which has been temporarily fixed with a black rubber grommet, and has rust round the tailgate number plate lights which is apparently a common Jetta and Passat estate spot for rusting. Front arch liners are all cracked, all front grilles have broken clips, various damaged interior trims with missing screws and clips broken trims and so on from where it's been taken apart to fit towbar and wiring, and taxi radio, aerial and wiring but for an ex taxi it's not absolutely hanging, plus i enjoy tidying cars up, sense of achievement.

Thought I'd update this with my plans for the car:-

Firstly I need to tidy it up and replace the broken bits and missing bits like screws, trim, etc. Then it's on to mods, if anyone knows how easy any of them are feel free to give me some info because I'm new that the VW scene primarily owning pretty much Vauxhalls (3x Astra and 2x Corsa) and Renault Clios (x3) and a couple of others. Only VW experience was owning for a few weeks a very rusty and hanging '97 P reg mk3 Golf 1.4 SE in burgundy (one with GTi tail lights, arch and sill trims etc) which I never even drove.

Before I do start my list, I've read loads on here about needing a CH steering wheel controller in order to fit a mk6 GTi MFSW, however my car is an 09 plate so later build than almost all mk5 Golfs, and has the RCD310 stereo from factory like the mk6s have, later CR rather than PDi engine and is the top spec for a Jetta (Sport trim so identical spec to late mk5 GT Sport Golfs) so should my car already have CH steering wheel controller fitted? If it makes any difference my car has had cruise retro fitted at some point, I suspect when new by the dealer during PDi as although cruise was an option at extra cost on the Jetta Sport it wasn't standard and my cars owners manual has an official looking sticker on front page which says ".retrofitted speed control module) so I'm hoping if it didn't have a CH controller from factory it will have had one fitted in order to retrofit cruise control. My current wheel isn't an MFSW and I have a midline display with trip computer and the functions controlled via wiper stalk.

So plans:
- Dark/Black GTi Headlights
- GTi honeycomb upper and lower front grilles
- Custom honeycomb front fog grilles as normal GTi ones don't fit Jetta bumper, I've seen some on an American VW parts website.
- GTI Lower splitter and extension (Jetta has GTi splitter as standard but not the little lugs for the extra bottom part)
- Refurb standard classixs alloys in the same shiny silver finish as S-line Audi wheels.
- Jetta 2.0 TFSi Sport rear lower bumper skirt with exhaust cut out
- Jetta or Golf mk5 2.0 TDi 170bhp twin stainless steel exhaust pipe backbox

Interior:-
- Possibly a GTi tartan interior, but would need to be one with front seat underseat storage drawers as current seats have these and are pretty useful
- Replacement centre console piece for under front armrest with MDi unit in it
- Scirocco Diesel Colour Speedo/Rev Counter clocks, when I can decide which ones I like the most.
- MK7 Golf R key
- Either RCD330G/+ or RNS315DAB head unit once I can decide whether I want to spend a fortune for the OEM unit or if the cheaper Chinese unit, depends on if the RCD330 works with the MFSW buttons
- MK6 GTi steering wheel
- MK7 indicator and wiper stalks if they work with the mk5 platform, seems it's just the physical style of the stalks that's changed not the fitting.
- OEM Mats once I know what different styles VW produced.
- Chrome edged headlight switch, fuel flap switch, electric mirror rotary, and drivers 4 electric window control switch plus a switch with chrome edging for each of the other 3 doors.
- Cup holder bottle opener for the standard fit "euro cup holder" a lot of people add because currently with it missing cans don't hold in it
- Dash top air vent which is normally only fitted to mk5s with climatic digital climate control, to replace the storage tray.

Brakes:-
- GTi Discs, Pads and Caliper Carriers to upgrade front brakes

If I ever manage to get through that list plus tidying up a tired and battered 146k miles ex taxi I'll think of some more mods

Good mods planned. There are a few Jetta owners on here with some tasty modifications, worth a search.  :happy2:
