Hi
« on: December 27, 2008, 01:39:30 pm »
Just been referred to this site by Shaun (182_Blue) who I know through Detailing world and VWNavi -

I have a Candy Leon 170Tdi, which is pretty much mechanically identical to a Golf - so thought I'd probably be able to pick up some useful info on here -

Also saw that SteveP does an excellent upgrade for the RNS510 (which I have the Seat version of) for Speed Camera locations too

Cheers Shaun & Steve  :happy2:

Although it seems like very forum I sign up to entails me spending more money on the car!

Just deciding at the moment to splurge out on the MDI Media In kit, which I've been dithering about for a while - current £/Euro exchange rate doesn't help either

IMHO after having a play with the MDI kit on the RNS-510, while it's nicely integrated it's a little slow and for the money doesn't give me enough benefit over burning a couple of DVD's with the MP3's on or having a couple of spare SD cards for holding music in the car on top of the stuff I already have on the Hard Drive.  :happy2:

A couple of 4gb SD cards are perfect imo, and only around £6 you can go wrong

Mines the Seat unit though so doesn't have the card slot - which is a bit of a pain!

No i haven't fitted it to mine, but have tried one in a Passat Demo car the tuning and ICE division of my VW dealer are running.

I found it a bit slower (maybe 1-2 seconds extra to load/refresh each screen) than the normal screen refresh  when using something like music from the Hard Drive or SD Card.
