My electronics are dying *Help*

Thanks @SI-R32

Yeah so it basically deteriorated, noticed that it was not always knowing the true state of the open sh*t door, but now always sees it as open regardless or module or anything. The loom was discovered damaged 3 years ago and was repaired and still all looks good.

Have tried the vcds and it won’t connect to either module that I install. If I try to look at the cecm it won’t let me say ensure all doors are unlocked.

Nothing has been changed, I was going to do a battery test a few weeks ago but had no fuses for the multi meter so I didn’t complete that so the battery was disconnected but that’s it.

Fuel pump doesn’t appear to be priming audibly but haven’t had any struggle starting.

It has been suggested that it’s an ECU issue, could this be a possibility? Where does the door module report back too? I’m in a situation of not being able to use the car as obviously it constantly thinks the door is open so is going flat constantly.

SI-R32:
if vcds won't talk to the door module but will talk to everything else then that's telling me its the wiring to the module, basically the door module is parralled up with other modules on the convenience can that then goes to the gateway (can bus module 19)

so you really need to check you have 12v on big red and small red cables to make sure it has a supply to the module, then my next port of call would be the door wiring. also check to see if you can talk to passenger side door. fyi the copper could be broken inside the insulation or a soldered joint (if any) could be dry etc etc, its kinda all pointing to the door wiring/module.

as you can talk to the CECM then that would suggest convenience can is ok from VCDS lead through gateway to the CECM which as I said is on the same wires as the front doors.

To be fair as you'd have to remove the outta door skin to change the loom I would just expose all the cables and repair them again right back in the door that would probably see the car out as loom could be 40 quid plus and you may not be an exact match.

You could quite easily get some extra flexible cable from ebay etc. not that hard to do depending on skills?

v4rley:
Ha yeah the problem is not sure my skills are up to it. I have ordered a replacement used loom from eBay probably not ideal but worth a try. A new looms for the dealers is £115
