Helix Clutch

Unfortunately the Sachs Clutch kit for my stage2+ ed30 had a piece missing so I've been offered a Helix clutch kit instead by the ever helpful guys at Rtech power.
Is anyone on here running one ?

which kit is it ? i have a single mass flywheel kit going on mine shortly . it looks great but can say whats its like on the car as its still in the cardboard box lol

I haven't been told the exact kit name although I'm led to believe it can handle slightly more power and torque that the Sachs kit.
Interestingly I've had some feedback from S3 users who say it's very user friendly so I'll report back on friday.

Helix Clutch - ed30

After 2 and a half months of nursing my slipping clutch it was finally replaced yesterday  in favour of a Helix item by the helpful chaps at Rtech power.
The DMF was in good working order so did not need replacing.

Whilst the clutch is slightly stiffer than standard, it is by no difficult to use, testament to this being the hour of clutch/de-clutching on the M42 thanks to the kind people slowing down to gawp at a car accident. If anything it appears to have softened in the 150 miles I’ve covered since.

There are no strange squeaks or rattles in operation, gear changes are now very precise with much quicker pick up than before.

Unfortunately I dont know the make of DMF I have.
I'm not sure if this is entirely accurate but...
Helix = 580Nm
Sachs = 530Nm

Didnt realise you were on here, Makes sense really though i suppose! i had my MkIV in at R-Tech for a rolling road run yesterday! I'd have spoken more if i'd have known!

had this fitted today along with a diff . man what a difference the clutch is . zero slip and quicker spool up ! yes being a soild flywheel does make the box rattle a bit but in all fairness when the radio is on or in gear you cant hear it , and yes the clutch is slightly stiffer but nothing that the everyday driver can't live with .

its very much like a 02a lightened flywheel with a vr clutch .


massive improvement and the diff seems to be working nicly mid bend  :smiley: .

massive thanks to matt and his machanic (sorry i didnt catch your name ) . also good to have a chin wag about dubs  :happy2:  oh and a very good cup of coffee too lol

good you like it, i'm in the middle of doing the same, and i'm sticking with the DMF. That rattle is vibrations from the 4 pot engine and with a smf you get them transferred to your transmission, this is the reason for the "possibly" troublesome gearchange at high revs and shorter life of gearbox. I don't dare take that chance  :sad1:
