Coolant Flange - How To Remove The Vacuum Hose

Hi Folks,
Have spent today replacing a dud thermostat and was in the process of replacing the coolant flange (Part Number 06F 121 132 H). This is the junction on the right hand side of the cylinder head that is located under the cam chain housing on AXX & similar engines.
The O ring has failed as per a couple of posts I previously read on hear but can no longer find regarding mystery coolant loss & coolant on the top of the gearbox......
Anyway apart from the coolant hose connections, there is a vacuum hose that connects through the flange, and I am completely stumped as to how these are detached from the flange.
Has anyone changed on of these recently and can maybe shed some light on removing the vacuum hose without breaking it on either side....

Not sure I can help, I just tried to look and it’s deep in the engine so not easy to see, but I know the one on the pump on the end of the camshaft just pulls off. Have you got some photo of your still stuck?

Thanks for the reply.
Called it a day earlier as the thermostat replacement had been a bit more time to complete than I thought it would be, but go there in the end.
The new part has the same plain fitting on either side of it, so I think your right and it just pulls off, as there is no notch or indent that would allow the pipe to click into place.
The vacuum pipe appears to sit over a rubber grommet (to seal the line I assume). Might try getting it warm with a hot air gun, and then tugging a bit harder to free it off. Found a YouTube video showing how to replace the line that goes off to the engine pump side, and was just pulled off as you say.
Will report back once its been removed.

Yes the thermostat is a pig of a job but a good sense of achievement once completed. Yeah they seem to have a rubber sleeve that the pipe then sits on top off. Good idea to call it a day and have a fresh start on it and I’m sure all will go smoothly :happy2:

yes that pipe just pulls off.. might be a bit stiff but it will pull off ;-)
