What is the difference between the 2 kits? I though thw 729's were older and the 730's were the 'updated' model. Am I wrong?

compatibility with different BT versions and different mobilephone brands is the difference, i bought the 729b (skoda) based on the info that it works with the most brands and BT software versions. Eventhough it hurts me every time i see skoda on my phone  :booty:

Rob GTI:
I changed the name of the device on my mobile, so every time it connects it now says "Connected to VW Edition 30" rather than "Connected to Skoda UHV". :happy2:

Yep, to use a 730 your phone needs to support a Bluetooth profile called Remote SIM Access Profile, or RSAP. Not all phones have this (although it's a good idea imo). If yor phone has RSAP then the 730 has some advantages.
The 729 supports the standard Bluetooth Hands Free Profile, which so common that even Apple could be bothered to implement it!

SteveP:
^^^ Yep the exact reason I just did this: -

Swapped this: -

And now have a kit that works with my iPhone

If anyone with a Nokia or other phone with rSap support is interested in a complete 730B car kit (with loom and Microphone) then drop me a PM  :happy2:

So was it a straight swap Steve, or did you have to redo the cabling as well?
