mods list
« on: March 09, 2010, 06:46:51 pm »
i think ive done most of modest mods (so far) all arsaboutface!
so what is the preferred list and in the order youve done them... and if ya got time the benefits each one gave....
bear in mind i,m a newbie non car-techie so u might have to really explain what arb is :ashamed: :sad1:
etc
i did the
eicback springs-lowered,better looking stance/and slighl;lty better handling
then the carbonio type intake- a lil difference in noise and it feels easier 0-but could be just me and the placeabo effect
exterior mods- red lip/carbon grill peice new rear lights(oops not so nice anymore)
19" lm reps- turned me into grandad grump driver scared to corner fast and a serial pothole watcher lol :innocent:
- thats it so far but got lots planned and a date for my blueflame r32 rear end ....FINALLY
at which time i will get all the facelift completed....YAY! :jumpmove:

Arb is short for Anti Roll Bar mate, uprated ones are stiffer and help to reduce body roll  :happy2:
I've done H&R Arbs and the Whiteline Anti lift kit on mine, both really great mods imo and the ones that have most changed the feel/drive of the car, would defo recommend them!

Arbs really sharpen up the ride without ruining the ride comfort (as long as you dont go mega stiff), i have mine set on soft front and rear hard which makes the car a little more tail happy which i like, the Whiteline kit or WALK as you may have seen it called is probably my best value mod to date, improves traction and weights up the steering nicely  :happy2:

Next time I'll do all my mods at the same time....get them out of the way and then enjoy the car.

This car was fun to do bit by bit as a learning curve, but next time there's no need.
Golf R gone.

....I'm inclined to think exactly the same. However, the downside is shelling out all that money in one hit!

I had no plans to mod my GTI when I ordered her from Wolfsburg but coming from an unmodified straight-six BMW with a fabulous exhaust sound I didn't like how quiet the GTI was inside the cabin. So a Milltek went on. I then did a CarLimits course and discovered I wanted to improve the handling and then went on from there. A remap came much later.

How, or indeed if, you mod depends what you individually want from your car.
