i did his before, i got hold of some small flat pieces of plastic which i drilled hols in and put cable ties through the holes and then through the grill. then simply stick your plate to the plastic, i might have some of the plastic pieces laying around if you want some??

Bit of an old thread but thought i'd chip in anyway.....

Seen a few people superglue magnets to the inside of their bumper and to the back of their numberplate, this way when its removed it still leaves a nice flush finish. As long as you get strong enough magnets it will be fine.

I love that idea.  Im using extra strength velcro, although its budging nowhere the magnet method is better!  :happy2:

Which magnets are the best to use? Thinking of doing this as ive got short plates that i want to use on the front instead of the ones with the GB banding!

When I did this with mine I just used the "expandible" screws from B&Q.  You stick it through the honeycomb mesh and when you tighten the screw, the clip on the back opens/expands and clamps behind the homeycomb grill.  Holds it perfectly and allows you to romove it in minutes with no holes or clips left behind!

Sorry to jump in on this matsu but I have a similar question, just fitted a smoothed front grill to my car and I've had some square plates made up to sit to the bottom right of the car, as you look at it. To sit between the bottom of the centre grill so it's not obstructing air flow into the lower honeycomb and the fog light, but also below the headlight washer. The plates fit bang on in the gap, just need to know the best way of attaching the plates now. Any ideas? Im liking the idea of the magnets cause it leaves a nice clean look when its off but will it hold ok? Any one any tips on how to do this?

 :drinking:

Cheers people!

Since posting up here yesterday I've read TCs thread on magnetic number plates, great idea!! So I've ordered myself some magnets and I'm going to have a go at fitting them when they arrive.

Cheers anyway everybody!
