Sounds like a dead release bearing.  Had something similar on my old Lupo GTI

Just got car back,DMF was toast!! Bits of the springs were floating around the bell housing. All silent now. :pomppomp:

Clutch kit and flywheel, Sachs parts were used.

Was the DMF 'flushed' or replaced?

Something to watch out for with ours, but I give it beans when I drive it

Ah sorry mate, I misread that as DPF

I must admit, I sometimes pull away in second as well.  It doesn't seem to mind it though

I need to get one of those "clutch to start" bypass looms as I hate cranking with no oil pressure on the thrust bearing.

:signLOL: Flush a DMF I thought you'd gone crackers Kev!

Yeah know what you mean about having to press the clutch :stupid:

I've held back on doing the remap, I don't really want to fork out for injectors and fuel pump ideally.

No, same mate.  TBH the 140 feels pretty brisk anyway to be fair.  I've been reading up on it and some folk say remapping the 140 to 170 makes for a punchier engine than the factory 170 as its less laggy.
