Golf GTi - Best brake pads ?
« on: November 18, 2021, 06:54:15 am »
Hi Guys,

Have a standard GTi and brakes. Brakes lack a bit of feel though - all discs / hoses / fluid good condition etc.

Can anyone recommend a set of pads that works well for the road....I am after better pedal feel with good initial bite ?

Cheers

I've had both ebc red stuff and endless mx72. Thought the ebc were poor, bad bite from cold and too many heart stopping moments in traffic.  Once warmed up they were ok but I can't sing the praises of the mx72 highly enough.  Good daily driver manners with great pedal feel and confidence inspiring when pushed.  Not too expensive from nengun.com either.  You might find this article an interesting read

Vag BremTechnic J hook discs with Ferodo DS2500 apparently works well.

I just use ATE branded pads & discs from ECP. Work plenty well enough for my daily grinds.

Just fitted mintex M1155 to mine and really like them. Really nice bite from cold.

Kev beat me to it...the bite is superb with this combo and was amazed at how much it improved the feel and performance of the brakes. Couldn't recommend more.

Sweet.  I used M1144s many moons ago and liked them.  I thought the 1155 was more racey?  Then again, your brakes are proper units, so it's all relative in terms of pedal feel.

Yup, I was passing on what you told me about them  :happy2:   Going to try that combo when the current stuff wears out.
