P0441 code, EVAP fault
« on: December 11, 2021, 11:09:39 am »
Hi there I’ve got an ED30 with a P0441 code car is running really rough and struggling to climb the revs turbo is surging in the midrange too, I’ve brought a new N80 valve/purge valve just waiting on delivery. Revs are also hunting with the fault maybe the car is running really lean? Just hoping there isn’t another fault if anyone could help me that would be perfect. Thanks in advance.

When I had my edition 30 it had that code during my whole onership but always ran well, i'm guessing you have an air leak, have you checked the hose from the top of the carbon canister to the inlet manifold/return pipe?

This has been covered so many times......

It may not be the N80, it could be a depleted Charcoal can, it could be a bad fuel filler cap, or any combination of the 3, or all at once!

The fault code won't go away until either one, or all of the above, have been replaced.

I ended up fitting a new non-genuine charcoal canister to solve that code on mine. Been fine for the last couple of years.

The hunting could be PCV related.  Does the engine rpm change if you pull the dipstick or oil cap?  If the engine doesn't try to stall, the PCV is probably shot.

With which part number?  If it ends P, you also need the rear PCV tube to go with it, otherwise you get the strange idle revving issue.   If you bought one that ends R, you don't need the rear pipe.
