Super high mileage mk5 gti’s

280k? That's impressive. Just goes to show how long these cars can last if maintained properly. I have seen a few around with 200k+, one recently that I saw sold with 225k ish. Just doing a bit of snooping around, some guy on another forum said his GLI made it to 370k miles before the tensioner failed and then killed the engine.
We are chilling at about 130k right now which seems about average at this time. Quite normal to see them between 100k - 200k

My 2007 is on 151,000….. a spring chicken….

Those mileages are a testament to how good they are to drive :happy2: And weirdly, how reliable they are

They certainly are mate, beautiful well made car’s some may think its a real bad idea buying a high milage car but im actually quite pleased to tell people my gti is still running perfect at nearly 300k miles 😂, as you said it goes to show how solid and well engineered they are even the interior and drivers bolster has barely any wear and tear 👌🏻

195k on the shell, suspension was replaced around 5k ago, engine is on 90K-ish, need to get the cam chain/tensioner done soon. Don't want another engine going bang
